💌 Stay Active This Summer - Without pressure

Summer is all about holidays, weekend getaways, and slowing down. It's also the time of year when many pole dancers end up taking a break from training. Between studio closures and time away, sticking to your usual routine isn't always realistic.

The good news? A few weeks off the pole won't undo months—or even years—of hard work. You might need a couple of sessions to get back into the swing of things, but your body remembers more than you think.

Instead of worrying about making progress all summer long, focus on taking care of yourself. Keeping your body moving, maintaining the strength and mobility you've built, and giving yourself time to recharge will help you come back feeling refreshed and ready for the new season.

🌴 Keep Moving This Summer, at Your Own Pace

If you'd like to stay connected to pole over the summer, there are plenty of ways to do it. The goal isn't to replace your usual training schedule, but simply to maintain the foundations of your practice: strength, mobility, flexibility, balance, and body awareness.

Don't forget to stay hydrated before, during, and after your workouts, especially in hot weather. Higher temperatures mean your body needs more water, so keeping a water bottle nearby is an easy way to make sure you're drinking enough throughout your session. If you're not sure which one to choose, we've explained everything you need to know here!

Make the Most of Open Practice

If your studio stays open over the summer or offers open practice sessions, take advantage of it! It's a great way to keep training without the pressure of a structured class. Open practice is perfect for:

  • revisiting your favourite tricks and combos
  • creating new combinations and transitions
  • improving your flow and exploring your own style

Summer is also the perfect time to enjoy a different side of pole. Slow things down, dance more, experiment with new transitions, or simply enjoy being on the pole without putting any pressure on yourself.

And if the heat or humidity is making your grip less reliable, don't hesitate to use a grip aid. It can help you feel more secure and comfortable on the pole, even during the hottest days. If you're not sure which one to choose, we've explained everything you need to know here!

🧘 Strength Training, Yoga, Pilates & Stretching: The Perfect Summer Cross-Training

Even if you're taking a break from pole, you can still maintain the key physical skills that support your practice through complementary activities. All you really need is a few essentials—like a comfortable yoga mat—and you can train at home, in the garden, or even while you're away on holiday.

Strength training helps you maintain the muscle you've worked so hard to build.

Yoga, Pilates and stretching are also fantastic ways to improve mobility, flexibility, balance, body control, and overall body awareness. They're a great way to keep moving while giving your body the care it deserves.

Even short sessions can make a difference. The important thing is to stay active and listen to your body.

🦦 What If You Take the Summer Off?

Here's the most important thing to remember: it's completely okay to take a proper break.

Rest isn't a step backwards—it's an essential part of improving. Your body needs time to recover, adapt, prevent injuries, and come back stronger.

After months of training, a summer break can be exactly what your body needs ! It gives you time to recover, reset, and come back feeling refreshed and motivated for the season ahead.

So if your summer plans involve nothing more than relaxing, swimming, soaking up the sun, going for walks, or simply enjoying your holiday... that's perfectly okay too. 😎

♥️ Back to Pole: We've all been there!

If you're worried you've "lost your level," remember this: you won't be the only one feeling that way.

When classes start again, plenty of pole dancers will be coming back after weeks away from training. The first few sessions might feel a little tougher than usual. Some tricks may take a few extra attempts, your body might feel a little heavier, and your skin may need some time to get used to the pole again—but those familiar feelings will come back sooner than you think.

The start of a new season is also the perfect opportunity to revisit old favourite combos instead of immediately chasing new tricks. You might even find a little extra motivation by pulling out your favourite pole outfit—or treating yourself to one that makes you feel confident and comfortable as you ease back into class.

Try not to compare your comeback to your best performance before summer. Your body just needs a little time to find its rhythm again.

Pole dance is a long-term journey. A few weeks away won't define your abilities. What matters most is enjoying the process and having fun every time you step back on the pole.

To Sum It Up...

Whether you're training all summer long or your pole stays untouched for a few weeks, remember that taking a break is part of the journey. Before you know it, you'll be back with your pole friends, rediscovering your favourite moves and falling in love with the sport all over again.

And don't worry—you definitely won't be the only one wondering where your invert went after two mojitos and three weeks of vacation. 😉
